In addition, Monell 3D employs a Matterport Pro2 3D camera. The Matterport features a 134-megapixel camera that captures a 360-degree photosphere at each setup location. The individual shots are then stitched together, creating a virtual 3D environment suitable for many purposes including asset management, project tracking, and virtual tours. Asset management is accomplished using Mattertags™ which can be linked to documents, websites, webcams, and other external resources. The models can be accessed remotely via secure internet connection, allowing out of town parties to remotely tour the facility.
One of our most successful projects was the documentation of the Niagara Falls Waste Water Treatment Plant. The entire facility was documented with both a Matterport 3D camera and a Faro 3D laser scanner. The resulting projects were linked to the Plant’s Computerized Operations and Maintenance Manual (COMM) and their internal asset management program. By doing this, operators are able to easily navigate between the 4 platforms with a click of a mouse.
